Re: salix vs. arch
To balance, if I may add from my personal experience with the Arch community, the "hostility" in Arch's forums is not of the "bad" kind. They are like a good and tough teacher who expects you to work at least as hard as he when solving a problem. Personally, I prefer that, it mak...

Re: Salix Xfce 14.0
Impressive!
@ikke
Is it a USB keyboard? If so, does replugging it help?
I had this problem with a USB keyboard on Arch. It's not related to Salix. I don't know how to solve it apart from replugging the keyboard.
I use PS2 now.

Re: Gasgow Haskell compiler
Unfortunately I'm currently not running Salix so I can't test the packages, sorry.
BTW, I spent quite some time learning Haskell and I found http://learnyouahaskell.com/ to be a nice place to start if you want to learn the language. I liked it.

Re: Gasgow Haskell compiler
Just a little comment, the Haskell Platform is not a sort of IDE, but a sort of software distribution. Since there are many Haskell libraries and application which depend on each other it's quite hard to match the versions of them all when installing them. What the Haskell people did was to do this ...

Re: salix vs. arch
Thanks for a very intelligent post. Np, and thank you. My vision for the ultimate distro is one that gives you both at the same time -- I am absolutely sure that these two values 'friendliness' and 'bare metal' can co-exist with not even a small conflict between them. Just let me add one thing. I d...

Re: salix vs. arch
Hi. I used Ubuntu, Zenwalk, Salix for a short time, and then Arch. First of all let me say that I think the three distros you mentioned are great. The question is, in my opinion, what you expect from your distribution. I started my way in Linux with Slackware. It was very easy to install, but I had ...
