It's an 11 years old Toshiba Satellite with screen 1024x748. With Vector I didn't have that problem although based on the same foundation ?

Um... yes it is... or it should be.

I updated the initrd scripts and the core package lists for all the desktop projects shortly after 13.37 (Xfce) was released!

You might have, but those changes will only appear in the next release, after 13.37. The initrd in all 13.37 is exactly the same.
