I am trying to use the slapt-src tool to automatically install the broadcom-sta (aka wl) module from source.
I become root and invoke slapt-src -i broadcom-sta and get the following:
blah...blah

Re: 13.1.2 Basic install from Live / no dhcp network interfa
I did try netconfig but was unsuccessful. I would suggest adding a step to the live install to set up internet.
Since I installed the full version, I am going to call this fixed. Next time I reinstall I will give basic another go and try netconfig.

[fixed] Basic install from Live / no dhcp network interface
I installed the basic version from the xfce live cd. The install was easy but the basic version does not have functioning eth0. I attempted to start the interface via ifconfig but I use dhcp here and I did not get an IP. I did some research and I suppose I could have started or installed the dhcp ...

add synclient TapButton1=0 to rclocal in LXDE live
I want to shut off the tap feature. I assumed adding /usr/sbin/synclient TapButton=0 would work but it does not seem to run it. Does rc.local work on a live distro?

Re: Liveclone for testing
This works well on the live LXDE version. I customized the live version using persistence. Then cloned it to fat32 usb stick. I fiddled the syslinux.cfg to get it to boot on my hp 1010nr et voila it booted and worked like a champ.
I then took the files from the USB and put them on an SD card and ...

Re: Salix 13.0.2 is ready!
Is there instructions for updating 13.0 to 13.0.2 posted somewhere? A suggested method?
Trying to keep my Salix install unbroken.
Merry Christmas and best wishes for 2010.

Re: Save session or not?
OK I guess I am satisfied. I will leave it unchecked. It is not that useful to me and it causes trouble.
BTW, I really like the Salix forum. Good answers in a timely and courteous manner. I like the Salix philosophy as well. I hope to be here for a while.

Save session or not?
When you log out there is a little box in Xfce that asks you whether you want to save your session. I never gave it much thought in prior versions of Xfce, but recently I have been noticing that bad session data seems to have been saved in the .cache folder for Xfce. I deleted the saved sessions and ...

Re: Mounting Floppy as user[fixed]
I still use paper as well.
My computers are very old and they like floppy disks.
BTW the users in the fstab is not a user name or group, it just means not root which is the default.
I discovered that after I did some research on fstab.
I am not sure what the utility of the floppy group is ...

Re: Xfce error box "tray manager lost selection"[fixed]
I removed files form the ~/.cache/sessions directory and now all is well again.
seems like a short coming in Xfce in that you can get bad info from a past session and it persists.
