Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I managed to boot into Salix using SystemRescueCD (an excellent emergency tool) to make sure it's installed properly and it was. However still can't boot using UEFI boot screen.
1. The key to install in UEFI mode is first to boot in UEFI mode.

Re: Salix 14.1 64 booting from a UEFI system
I removed all boot entries in bios and reinstall salix with elilo, so at EFI boot menu (pressing Esc) there is only the Salix boot option to select, but choosing that still takes me back to the bios, like if it's empty?

Re: Salix 14.1 64 booting from a UEFI system
laprjns: thanks for your replay and sorry about the confusion, yes I downloaded and burned the image to a DVD as you say, however I'm not sure if it booted in EFI or legacy bios mode. It did ask me at the end of installation to install elilo, which I did. The only reason I created the EFI system was ...

Re: Salix 14.1 64 booting from a UEFI system
Sorry forgot to provide these details: I'm installing it from "Salix64 Xfce 14.1 DVD ISO (x86_64, 64-bit)" which as stated on the download page is not a live image. I can't see any links to install CDs there?

Salix 14.1 64 booting from a UEFI system
It's the first time I'm dealing with a UEFI installation and it does't boot. The installation from the live cd is fine, I created a ef00 partition and elilo and so, however at restart it'll go to the "bios" again (not sure if it's still called BIOS), without any options to select anything. I assume ...

Re: SanDisk Micro SD HC not mounted
Hmmm very possible, didnt think of that combination. The same reader did work with the same card under windows 7, however since the card reader is more than 2 years old it still might be something limited with it as you say. I'll try to use another card reader and post back

Re: SanDisk Micro SD HC not mounted
Unfortunately it's not being auto mounted as many other devices do. I've got another 2GB Sandisk micro SD card which auto-mounts fine. however this one has been a nightmare :D. thanks for any help in advance.

[Solved] SanDisk Micro SD HC not mounted
I've got a micro SD card which can be mounted on two Android phones an in Windows 7 but not in my Salix x86_64 14.0. I've already got the card checked by SanDisk and got it replaced to eliminate factory faults.

You were right, I solved this by updating the kernel-huge and kernel-headers to the same version as the kernel-modules, i.e. "3.2.45-x86_64-3". The opposite of your suggestion somehow but thought this would be the easier way
