Re: Hangs after update

I am currently trying in VirtualBox; allocated 50GB of space - 15GB for root, 4GB for swap, 31GB for /home; grub for bootmanager I simply used gslapt package manager and let it run. I had a similar problem installing on another laptop. Thanks for getting back. If you have time, just curious where I ...

Hangs after update

Thanks for the work on Slackel I can install it just fine; problem comes when I do the update and then try to reboot. It hangs at: slackel.example.net login: /usr/bin/slim: error while loading shared libraries: libbrotleded.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory Does "S...

Re: How to upgrade zoom-linux

I found that downloading the CentOS version and doing rpm2tgz - has worked OK.
Just install the tgz file created using installpkg from the terminal
I have no valid reason for choosing CentOS, just a hunch
Oh don't forget to install the rpm2tgz package, like I usually do the first time.

Re: SalixOS May Inherit Lots of New Users Soon

I do not say it's a bad Linux distro (even because I help MX and also antiX in their translations) but I find it MX Linux a bit confusing.... too many tweaks. Tired of those distros, have only found peace in Slackware.(and Salix) because i'm becomming a lazy Slacker and i really like the project. L...

Re: Size of Salix install?

You should be good with the 16GB. I've used 14GB with quite a few extras loaded, (some KDE games for the Mrs's, wine running a large program, virtualbox, gnucash and a few others). Worst case is download, install it and see (provided your bandwidth is halfway decent and mostly reliable, (it's fun wa...

Windows 10 back to 7 jeeez

There are a couple of programs I have that will just not run in Linux, CAD program and one more. Windows now runs strictly in VB (VirtualBox) now no matter the flavor. Windows 10 started to insist on downloading an upgrade that would not install. Failure after failure, sucking up my limited band wid...

Re: What is a good distro to recommend for beginners?

Linux Mint worked well for me for many years and still run a copy in virtualbox which I honestly don't use very often. It was Vista that finally made me go over the edge and take Linux seriously. Maybe I know more than I think I do but Salix isn't a bad choice either since the help on the forum here...

Re: Salix Xfce 14.2

Thanks all, again

Had installed RC2 on both laptops and running good. Really appreciate the software availability. Seems like the programs I always install are now readily available. :D

Thanks again.

Re: Just discovered Salix looking for systemd free os

Distro hopped for many years and usually had a Debian distro (mostly Mint, a few "buntu's"). Tried Salix a few years back version 13.(don't remember) and have been using pretty much since then, except for a short stint with Manjaro. Just lately my laptop wireless got a little flakey (it wa...

Re: Another distro without systemd

Thought PCLOS was also without systemd. People who use it seem to like it. Have it installed in VirtualBox but haven't done much with it myself, mostly because of time.
