I 've tried fedora 15 xfce this afternoon and i've noticed they switched from gdm to lxdm for their xfce 'spin'. and it works :-) so maybe it has become an option finally... maybe you should look at fedora lxdm sources to see if there is a patch or if the problem has been corrected upstream. Okay, so SLiM wasn't a good suggestion, my apologies ;-). However GDM in Salix 13.1.2 is GDM 2.20, which is not maintained anymore, hence my suggestion for a change. Anyway, I don't know which version you have on 'current' as I don't track it, but if it's the latest GDM series, it still is a problem...

I would like to suggest using another DM. the GDM version you're using is outdated, and the newer GDM needs an entire GNOME session to be loaded, thus requiring more RAM, GNOME dependencies, etc. Moreover, you don't need GDM gnome keyring functionnality, you're using Wicd an not NetworkManager, whic...
