I couldn't seem to get the command to work (my folder is /proc/acpi/OVGA, not VGA), and the brightness applet doesn't work either. I tried installing salix 13.1.2 and I got the same result.

It's an acer aspire timeline 4810tz, and I haven't actually tried vanilla slackware yet, so I'm not sure if it would work in slack. It usually works in Xfce (at least when they are Debian based).

I tested a (most likely now outdated) opensuse livecd with GNOME 3, and from the 5-ish minutes I spent with it I got the impression that it was pretty slick but REALLY aimed at tablets and other touchscreen devices. In fact, that's one of the reasons I switched over to Xfce. It kinda made me feel ...

13.2 Xfce and brightness fn keys
Hey, I'm using the beta for salix 13.2, and my function keys aren't working for the brightness. I got the volume and multimedia keys set up but I can't figure out how to setup the brightness keys. Anybody know how to set them up?
