hello,
I have noticed on my salix desktop that when I make a file or folder that is more than two words long that the words (title) gets abbreviated. for example, I have a couple of folders:
2nd buy aux cable
2nd buy collets
this is what they read on the desktop:
2nd buy a...
2nd buy c...

In the case of GTK+2 applications, you would need to find a new GTK+2 theme and use it, or edit the theme you're already using. Same of Qt applications or GTK+3 applications etc...

how do I make the scrollbar on the right wider? I have a wide screen and a wide bar would be a worthwhile use of real estate.

teamviewer works beautifully. I just tested it and I am able to control this computer from my main computer. I can give this computer back to my friend and he will be using salix. I won't need to drive to his home when there is a problem.
I hope it's ok to leave the thread open for a couple of days ...

sudo spi -i teamviewer
chmod: cannot operate on dangling symlink ‘./etc/teamviewer’
chmod: cannot operate on dangling symlink ‘./usr/bin/teamviewer’
chmod: cannot operate on dangling symlink ‘./var/log/teamviewer’
IT LAUNCHED ...

I am afraid I got impatient and made things worse. I used gslapt to remove, then used these commands offered by ibka:
sudo spi -u
sudo spi -i teamviewer
I did however find potential problems
chmod: cannot operate on dangling symlink ‘./etc/teamviewer’

absolutely. it's there in the screenshot. the terminal on the right is root. the screenshot is covered partially by a bar of some kind. I will present it again.
