Re: Unable to turn on KDE effects (XDamage, XCompositing)

How did you upgrade to kde-4.7.1 ?
I've used your script:
http://www.salixos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=23&p=17643

polkit-kde-1, kdebase-runtime, kdebase-workspace, kdebindings, kdeedu

Re: No Network with Basic XFCE Live CD Install

I am wondering if this is standard with a Basic installation or am I missing something "basic"?
I think there is no network manager installed with "basic"! In salix, network manager is wicd. I had the same problem when I installed salix for the first time :D

Re: Salix, fluxbox, not enough clear fonts.

If the problem only affects Firefox go to options->advanced and under the general uncheck 'use hardware acceleration when available'! Now restart the Firefox. That helped me... Cheers! ;)

EDIT xorg.conf should be in:

Code: Select all

/etc/X11/xorg.conf

Re: Quick layout switching

It says:
# slapt-get --installed | grep xfce4-xkb
xfce4-xkb-plugin-0.5.3.3-i486-3gv [inst=yes]: xfce4-xkb-plugin (keyboard layout applet for xfce)

That means you have it installed. Now right click on your xfce panel (taskbar, thing on the bottom, call it what ever you want) and left click on ...

Re: Quick layout switching

I searched, i didn't find.
Have you tried searching with Catfish? If you have XFCE version of Salix you probably have Catfish installed by default. When you enter Catfish on the left side there are various options... in the file name field enter xfce4-xkb-plugin and click find. Now wait for the ...

...i get CD with MAC OS X (which is UNIX based system), so can i use it?

OS X is hybrid of NetBSD, FreeBSD and implements UNIX, Slackware is UNIX like... I wouldn't suggest you to do that... Instead you could have checked on HP website for drivers. If you have done it you would found this . The ...
