so far i've tried three different live cd downloads. It is unlikely that all three were bad but not impossible. So far it has been LXDE, XFCE, and fluxbox. Apparently they are the 13.1.2 ISO's should I go with the newer ones if they are available? Will post lspci in another post. not internet on on ...

So found Salix after attempting to install Slackware. (it installed but refuses outright to accept my broadcom wireless), and so went to give this distro a spin. When booting the disc it will get to the login, and after that when it attempts to start X it crashes, I don't have a picture of this yet ...
