All the rest was superfluous.
Not really. Read it and you will find content that I believe can serve Salix, other distros, and other users well. Regardless of whether anything will be done to make these changes, the point is that they could provide useful tools for your users.
In the end, I ...

Re: Question on slapt-get and Salix repos
Thanks! That was a wonderful answer. Though I don't understand all the reasons why it is not simple, I will accept that far more readily than some of the other proposals. My primary difficulty with this thread was that the primary reason given for not allowing automatic dependency removal had to do ...

Re: Question on slapt-get and Salix repos
What makes you think I'm "so upset"?..
:?: That was kind of not very nice... :!:
Tsk... tsk...
Hmm...
Well, I'm getting cross-referenced and reprimanded for reasons I can't quite figure out... that's why.
I am simply quite amazed... & more so as your posts get more voluminous.

Re: Question on slapt-get and Salix repos
Objectively, what is wrong with my summary, though?
The devs and I went back and forth about it and then they just stopped responding. It basically went like this:
- Them: Salix doesn't tell you what orphan deps are (unlike Zenwalk) because too many users will see some orphan dep like 'base_aaa ...

Re: Question on slapt-get and Salix repos
Hi,
Fair enough questions. Here goes:
1) Re. my comments on the ZW forums.
-- I re-read things and agree that my recent post may have come across as a bit harsh compared to the actual discussion. I retract some of what was said. My reasoning follows:

Re: Hulu + flash player
Thanks for the explanation.
I still find myself stuck, as I do happen to live inside of the US 'gulag' and have no trouble with any other flash sites and am working from a nearly 'fresh' Salix 64bit install and so have no blockers or flash-preventers installed.
It seems that the only two tangible ...

Re: Hulu + flash player
Hmm... I definitely don't have it. So we're kind of stuck, then? Neither of you can check Hulu due to being outside of the US and the only potential issue identified was the blockflash plugin, which I don't actually have :)

Re: Hulu + flash player
Thanks for the update and help -- I'll check things out when I get home.
What is 'flashblock' by the way? Is that a plugin or setting via preferences? I don't see 'flashblock' in either Preferences or Tools->Add-ons in Firefox.
Best regards,
John

Re: Hulu + flash player
I'm not so sure Hulu uses flash... I only found this after my experiment with Midori, though. Once I put libflashplayer.so in it's library folder, it changed from 'You need at least version 10.0.22 of flash' to 'Hulu unable to stream video'. You're probably right in hinting that it might be ...

Re: Hulu + flash player
Update: tried copying libflashplayer.so (downloaded from adobe) into /home/uname/.mozilla/plugins. This created a different occurrence in hulu (some different 'loading' animations') but the same error messages.
In addition, I tried midori and found this:
