We live and learn.
Thank you for the advice.
I hope future versions of KDE have this grid facility.
I will take more note of versions than I have in the past.
Thank you.

Re: Printer
Hi, and thanks for all the information.
I am still following this along, bit by bit, and learning as I go.
I never give up.
Every day is a learning day.
I hope I am successful before the printer becomes totally obsolete. :D

Re: Printer
Not yet.
Thank you for all the advice, which I have followed as best I can.
It appears the computer sends pages to the printer.
The message at the printer is "receiving" or a similar message.
However, after that the printer just sits there.
I have read of the very same 'fault' in other forums ...

Re: Desktop
I am using the KDE desktop.
I have got used to not being able to use it as per other distros. Cannot start new file/folder from the 'desktop' etc.
However overall I find it very professional.
Thank you for your replies, but should this discussion be in another section?

Re: Desktop
Hello and thank you for your reply.
According to /etc/slackware-version I am using 13.37.0
I was thinking that suitable scripts might allow these things in future versions of Salix.
It would add convenience I think.

Printer
I use a brother DCP-135C printer.
I am unable to see how to install or set up the printer in Salix.
Files appear to be missing (dependencies?) and I am unable to see where they are or find out how to locate them.
The printer works all OK in windows XP.
But I prefer Salix of course. :)

Desktop
I would like to be able to do two things:
Firstly, align the icons (widgets?) to a grid pattern without needing to juggle them in to position.
Secondly, I would like to move and rearrange the icons (widgets?) in the task bar at the bottom of the screen.
These functions are standard on many distros ...
