Re: Salix in an SSD drive

Re: Apache (Open) Office instead of Libre Office?

<<[quote="JRD"] The package of LibreOffice by the LibreOffice team is awful, you can choose between a lot of .deb, or a lot of .rpm, nothing else. Well I downloaded the .rpm and converted them to .txz and installed them (it installed in /opt). Works good.>> From a long term perspective...i...

Re: Salix MATE coverage on tuxradar

:? Sadly, the only thing i understood from the show was .....they like iOS !??? ! And maybe a reminder that my evacuation from England can not come soon enough,to hopefully more technologically (and culturally) advanced environs :) A more positive and revealing experience can be found from PuppyLinux...

Re: hardware requirements wiki

Good luck Adys :) Getting an overview of chipsets/processors as common knowledge into the Linux collective mind has to be a good thing. More science and less opinion...because you tend to find yourself (myself  ) repeating the same nonsense...,much of the blame goes to the mainstream technolog...

Re: hardware requirements wiki

Just to correct some things: with Gentoo and Arch you also have total control of your OS. They just use a different paradigm. Granted :) It is just my perception that the Slackware ability to customise scripts to a given situation offers a very slight advantage (although i have yet to fully explore...

Re: hardware requirements wiki

Just adding my semi-n00b thoughts to this thread,*if it is not perceived as relevant please delete*. It is worth remembering, most of the equipment Linux migrators use,was set up for Windows and their assorted crapware, even though Microsoft, have been notoriously bad at optimising resources for its pr...
