Re: root

So I've decided to move to Salix from PCL.

I plan to leave the a /home partition as was - with an existing user account prior to Salix install.

When I install Salix, I create a user account then once up and running, I want to move the content of the original user account to the new account and ...

Re: root

It may be considered stupid by some but I've only logged on as root with previous distros when I'm disconnected from the internet and as I'm the only user of my PC, there no security issues.

I find root log-on useful when I reinstall and want to give my new user account full access rights to an ...

Re: Slackware & Salix

I've now installed Salix which was quite fluid to do so.

Is Privoxy available for Salix? I did a search in the package management and it isn't listed.

Slackware & Salix

I'm keen to look at Salix KDE.

Is there a reason why the download for Slackware is 4GB+ and that of Salix is around 700MB?

Had it not been for the size of the Slackware download, I'd try it but will go for Salix as I'm looking to move to less "derived" distro and Salix looks good.
