How to upgrade my installed Salix 14.1 to 14.2 without downloading the new ISO and reinstalling - and removing the current?

Re: Different distro, different graphic quality

Is the difference only visible in gnome-mplayer? If it is, can you try playing the same file on both distributions with just mplayer from the command line? The differemce could be that maybe you are using the regular mplayer in fedora, but mplayer2 in salix. Or it could be that the default output i...

Re: Can't do remote desktop connection from Windows

So how should I modify the file? Probably as you have already done. My suggestion was only an example of what is required. Did you follow all the instructions in the README? Another example - have you installed Xvnc stuff? Have you considered trying another remote desktop application? There are som...

So how should I modify the file? I see SESSION variable containing ...

Re: Can't do remote desktop connection from Windows

I have no idea what that windows dialog you mention looks like or how it should work. I do know however that 127.0.0.1 always means "current PC". The dialog looks like this: http://winsupersite.com/site-files/winsupersite.com/files/uploads/2012/12/rdc-rdc.jpg . There I input IP address or...

Re: Can't do remote desktop connection from Windows

Hi, do you have enabled all ports for xrdp connection? Rene How to see enabled ports and to enable a port? 127.0.0.1 is your current PC, not any other PC. You're trying to connect to your windows PC, from your windows PC. In Windows remote desktop connection dialog, at first I input IP address of m...

Re: Salix MATE, can't change hostname

I think this is solved. First, I ran "hostname myhost", then after reboot it was "darkstar" again. Then I searched files containing word "hostname". I tried /etc/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.conf with "hostname=darkstar" inside. Changed the value, then after ...

Re: Salix MATE, can't change hostname

gapan wrote:change it and reboot.
XAMPP keeps changing the hostname. I don't know why.
Finally I tried editing /etc/hosts to:

Code: Select all

127.0.0.1	localhost
127.0.0.1	pai-acer.example.net pai-acer darkstar
I'm not connected to LAN now, so I'll try pinging my PC from another when I'm at office LAN to look if this solves.
