Re: Salix Xfce 15.0 is released!
FLATPAK! DEFINITELY a perfect addition for us "lazy slackers"! Some years back I remember struggling to install Blender.. today.. Flatpak install! Same with other applications like Bitwig for music production. Very grateful!

Re: Salix Xfce 15.0 is released!
I have been a Salix user since 2012. Started out with the Ratpoison edition just to feel like a pro  XFCE after that. Just upgraded with a new old HP laptop, and gave Slackware KDE a spin before I installed the latest Salix 15.0 XFCE. For me, this is all I need and want for a home PC. A big tha...

Re: Salix Xfce 15.0beta1
Hello! Awesome to see Salix going to 15.0! I am testing the 64bit iso, with an efi laptop. I have tried to follow this: https://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/slackware-14/using-pipewire-instead-of-pulseaudio-in-slackware-15-a-4175693980/ to see if I can get pipewire working. I notice that Salix i...

It just keeps working!
This is a boring update - Salix just keeps working faithfully on my HP ProBook 6570b. Never any trouble! My favorite applications are Inkscape, Ardour, Shotcut and Blender. I use Claws for email, and sometimes Mutt for automated bulk mail to a mailing list. Salix is awesome.

Re: Blender 2.8
Thanks for the reply, and happy new year.
I appreciate the tip, I might just do that, even if it seems to work at the moment. But I have never tried to install anything that way before, so I must read myself up a bit on how to do that.

SOLVED
This post can be deleted, it was posted in the wrong place too, probably But it did work, if anyone else was wondering... With my install I had to install tbb in addition to the dependencies mentioned on Slackbuilds.org.

Blender 2.8
Have anyone tried to install the newest version of Blender? I use Salix 14.2 xfce with the "huge" kernel. Does anyone know if there are any reasons why it should not be compatible? I don't have a graphics card on my laptop, by the way. I am planning on installing the dependencies and packa...

More info on this thread
https://docs.slackware.com/studioware:tips_and_hints This article taught me a few things about allowing real time scheduling, making memory available, and making the processor(s) perform well for different music software that need it. Therefore I want to pass it on to other Slackers that may need it...
