i am having similar lock-ups of X server.
Mouse n keyboard dont respond.

But, my internet connected radio keeps working!!!

it should be a problem with x server.
Which log should I check?

I tried new kernel on repo.
it does not boot up at all.

u r right libbonoboui was the missing library.
I spent my weekend building Thunderbird.
it took about 3 hours to build.

There was a slight improvement in responsiveness.

it was my mistake in previous text.
Actually, I had gotten the the script at the url u mentioned
and downloaded the source code from gnome.

u can also right click a folder and select
"open in new tab"

Also u can drag files between tabs.

Here How I solved:
I compiled source code of "NetworkManager-openvpn" directly from gnome.org
http://ftp.gnome.org/pub/gnome/sources/NetworkManager-openvpn/0.9/
it went all OK, but ADD button is not activated !!!
And ofcourse, package did not appear on Gslapt...

I got the slackbuild script at ...

Installed network manager and its applet .
instead of wicd.
Installed openvpn package too.

But still, I can not add VPN connection in nw-applet.
Add button for VPN connection is not active.

VPN is an important part of Desktop OS.
Salix developers' help requested....

and did build Thunar myself.

It requires exo library to be updated to 10 from xfce.
