Re: Introduction
Hi jayseye, I was a long time Slackware user until there were concerns over Patrick Volkerdings' health around that time, when I switched to Arch, which I ran for quite a while - until the whole "rolling release" thing got in the way of work :-) Lately (past 5 years) I have been a Mac use...

Re: broadcom sta / compiling
Hello, I have the BCM4313 and I use the BROADCOM STA, and it works perfectly for me. I just used Sourcery to install it and as far as I remember I didn't have any problems installing it through there. Did you already try it (instead of downloading the source and compiling using SlackBuild)? Also, fo...

Re: Salix Openbox
Making configuration is the fun part! You don't want other people doing that for you (there's gotta be a limit to how 'lazy' you can be). For customization ideas, you can see eg: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=45692 (Sorry for all the links to Arch, but I've used it for a long time, and ...

Re: No Wifi on Dell Inspiron 6000 despite b43-fwcuter
I haven't looked too much into details about the specifics, but if you're having problems with wicd, then you could try network manager. You can install it using gslapt.
EDIT : first try the previous suggestion by Akuna. I think based on your posts, that should solve it.

Re: failed to boot constantly at the 1/3 of booting progress
Hello, This problem seems familiar to me, I remember it happening on my netbook (Acer Aspire One 722 with ATI card), but I don't remember the exact steps to solving the problem. I don't think it was anything to do with the filesystem though. Could you tell me what specific Dell laptop it is? And wha...

Re: Just installed and some minor teething problems
Hello Paul. First, a general comment: in Linux, regardless of the distro/flavour you choose, command line is your friend. Familiarize yourself with the terminal and basic linux commands. Just getting this point across first. Now: 1. Type "sudo gslapt" from your terminal (you'll need your r...

Re: Salix-14.0 screenshot
I just fixed up Openbox & Tint2 panel with VLC and Orage running... http://sapeden.files.wordpress.com/2013/01/apple-screenshot.png Have you considered gsimplecal as orage alternative? I like it a lot, since I don't use many of the features that come with orage (I just want to quickly see a cal...

Re: I don't know a distro with a tiling window manager
There is so many different window managers, tiling or stacking, and one isn't better than the other. We can get into "which WM is the best" argument, but ultimately there is no point. As mimosa said, there is already a Ratpoison edition, which I've never seen with any other distro, so that...

Re: How to change mouse cursor theme @ gdm login window [Sol
@Tim Cowchip: Wonderful utility lxappearance , thank you! In addition to displaying all the cursor themes, it automatically previews each one as you highlight it... I'd hesitated at first, assuming it would have too many dependencies; though in fact they were already fully satisfied in Salix Fluxbo...
