Yes you are correct the touchpad works fine with windows, I tried the command "synclient -l" and I got the following:
Parameter settings:
LeftEdge = 153
RightEdge = 870
TopEdge = 115
BottomEdge = 652
FingerLow = 12
FingerHigh = 15
FingerPress = 128
MaxTapTime = 180
MaxTapMove ...

Well when I said it detected it as AlpsPS/2 ALPS GlidePoint, what I meant is that this is how it shows up as when I when to the mouse and touchpad settings.
