I tried installing the proprietary driver again to see if I could get lucky. Unfortunately, at first, I had the same problem, but fortunately :D I found a solution. All I had to do was append this parameter to my lilo.conf.

Did you add 'resume=/dev/sd***' (location of your swap partition) in the append line of your boot loader?
