Salix currently uses boost 1.42, but wesnoth insists on 1.41 (I cannot even compile with 1.42). Can I downgrade somehow, or I have to build 1.41 myself?

Maybe you are using 64 bit Salix but 32 bit Sidux & Arch... (or you have a really minimalistic environment in S & A )
