Re: Salix Xfce 15.0alpha2
It seems to work fine. Xfce comes up. It lets me adjust the screen, run slapt-get, change icons, etc.
I still boot with lilo
Computer:
64-bit iso dvd
bios
US English
Full Installation

Re: New to Salix - trip report
Salix looks great, was easy to install and has many pieces missing from a normal Slackware install.
The startup problems with X were easy for me to fix but would be very hard for a newbie to Slackware.
I had a similar problem trying PC-BSD ( http://www.pcbsd.org/ ) where I did the installation and ...

What did you do to fix it, once you had booted into runlevel three?
Does X now work normally?
Are you using 14.0?
Yes I'm using the Xfce 64-bit version 14.0 and X works normally now.
To fix it I booted to another Linux partition ...

Re: wicd connects to eth1 but no actual internet
I'm new to Salix but know Slackware very well.
There appears to be a bug in the wicd default setting for ethernet, it is set to "eth1".
My ethernet card is eth0 and wicd did not find it.
To fix this I started wicd and "preferences" page.
Under "wired interface" I changed the "eth1" to "eth0" and ...
