Any number of things can go wrong with burning DVDs, and it is difficult to do offline debug/help with it.
OTOH, if your objective is to "boot" or "install" salix, then either of my recommendations will take things forward.
At the end of the day, it is more satisfactory to move forward ...

In order to take advantage of the new isohybrid iso, you just need to run (example for the 32-bit iso):
dd if=salixlive-mate ...
