Well actually there are more ways than one of geting skype. I'm running it in a 32bit chroot.

I've never installed the fglrx drivers, but http://docs.slackware.com/slackware:multilib#caveats suggests that you have the choice of installing the 32bit drivers. Perhaps all you need to do is reinstall ...

I use multilib, as it is the only way to get skype on salix 64 bit.

However multilib does not provide a 32 bit fglrx, nor does any package available for salix.

I am sorry but this is a problem that occurs with wine 1.7 slack14-32 and 64 (from wine's official website ) on salix 64.

Ok folks, here's the problem. I am running salix on 64 bit, however wine needs to use some opengl features which will not work without the 32 bit version of the graphics driver.

ok update on problem. I fixed it by uninstalling jack from gslapt and installing it from sourcery (slapt-src). Now I am having this issue:

Almost anything I download from kde's official repository will not work on salix. It's the same error:

"could not create a python script engine for <name-of-plasmoid>"

Now what is salix missing as a package? Why does this work on every other distro I have used before, but not on salix?

kmix 4.10.5 is working fine here. It is not broken. It is now a kde package and not included on multimedia package. Something else is going on with your installation since kde has a lot of changes in its packages from 4.8.5 to 4.10.5 version.

i upgraded kde to slackware current's and got the new krita. After using it for a couple of hours I'd say it was worth it. Huge improvement in terms of stability :mrgreen:

however the new kmix is broken, had to downgrade kmix back to the old kde.
Other than that I didn't find any problems with kde ...
