Re: Trouble compiling a couple programs
Would specifics really make a difference? I doubt it's a problem with the source code. I suspect I have somehow screwed something up (again). Or maybe something broke when I installed llvm and then removed it. All I know is that all the Google results for " C compiler cannot create executibles" lead ...

Trouble compiling a couple programs
I'm trying to compile a couple programs and I keep getting an error telling me the compiler cannot create executables. I get the same error with both gcc and clang. But both easily compile trivial programs I've copied and pasted from the internet. So I'm confident the problem is the source code. But ...
Re: No audio
Yup, that fixed it. I knew it would be a simple solution. No idea why all the solutions I found elsewhere involved editing config files, adding users, or other strange things.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Re: No audio
I started the daemon and immediately ran the status; 2 sink(s) available.

No audio
This is wierd. I can't get audio when I switch to an i3 session. But it works under xfce. Same user, I just change window managers and I lose sound. I've been searching the 'net for a solution and nothing has helped.
Even stranger is the output I get. I start pulseaudio, get a decent status, open a ...

Optimizing for multiple cores
I just bought one of these on eBay and I'm too excited about it. Going to build a graphics workstation so I can quit trying to render things on a laptop. Is there anything I can or should do during the install to optimize things for a whole bunch of cores? The board is coming with dual-core ...

New login window
It took a fair bit of work but I accomplished most of what I wanted to do. This is the login on the laptop I'm setting up for my wife.

Re: Custom theme question
Look into existing themes, try to tweak them.
That's what I'm currently doing. I never realized how wonderfully flexible xfce is. I also learned that you can break X by tweaking gtkrc files. I don't know how, but I did it. Had to reinstall to get X back. Well, I might have been able to recover via ...

Holy mackerel! That was the quickest install I've ever seen. I thought something went wrong. But it seems to work. $ ufw --help
