Re: Another SLKBUILDs Repo
Wow, that mintmenu must have been a nightmare... A comment for it: don't create the symlinks in the doinst(). Do it in build(). That way the symlinks don't get left behind when removing the package. It was definitely not the most fun I've ever had packaging a program, that's for sure! X-D That said...

Code: Select all
echo $LANG

Another SLKBUILDs Repo
I've been meaning to do this for ages (at least a year IIRC), and after spending a few days chiseling away at the surface of git, I've pushed my SLKBUILDs repo to Github. This represents the most polished SLKBUILDs I've put together, the highlight of which is a highly customized version of MintMenu ...

Re: Antergos
For anyone considering Arch Linux, I highly recommend giving Antergos a try. It's to Arch what Salix is to Slackware. I played around with it about two months ago and I was very impressed with it. I've heard great things about Antergos, and I've been itching for a painless preview of Xfce 4.12. Any...

Re: mintmenu from Linux Mint
Way late reply, but I am actually working on this one now. In fact, I've actually got a complete package that seems to run well so far, but it's only as graceful as the work it borrows from. Basically I took Wolfgang Ublrich's build for Fedora and ported it to Salix, even down to cutesy customized t...

Back from the dead
Actually, I never left, at least not Salix. I've been playing with 14.1 for probably about 15 months now, and it's still my favorite of the few distros I use. I made a few big promises before I got busy, though, and never really got around to them. I've built a few fun things -- no promises as to wh...

Re: GoboLinux
I haven't tried this, but my question would be: what actual problem does it solve? The main touted advantage seems to be to preclude the need for any package manager. A person can compile any program at all, and (again, assuming either the right flags are set or that that the adapted build process ...

Re: GoboLinux
I had the same thought. I go for Xfce and MATE... LXDE in a pinch. KDE just has way too many features I'll never use (with resource consumption to boot).seoneal7 wrote:It does sound intriguing, but KDE.... blurgh.
I suppose the beauty of a distro like this is how relatively easy it is to switch DEs?
