kernel firmware loader breaks on i686 kernel
AMD microcode auto loads fine on x86_64 but fails on x86 SMP I've got the same kernel config with different architecture, 4.4.111-x86-SMP and 4.4.111-x86_64 both with amd-ucode compiled in. Linux xhost 4.4.111-x86 #3 SMP Wed Jan 17 12:30:27 CET 2018 i686 AMD Phenom(tm) II X2 550 Processor AuthenticA...

wine-stable (2.0.4) - some programs have broken fullscreen
What happened is that codeweavers implemented taskbar with systray and start menu, where previously there was none. It sometimes works fine, but a number of programs that run 'fullscreen in virtual desktop' have the taskbar render on top of them. Arguably it's the program fault and not wine, but sti...

Re: stuck after kernel update
Is the Nvidia driver still preferred on old Nvidia cards (GT430) or ist he nouveau driver an option now? Some cards weren't working properly a year ago, but now they're supported by nouveau module. When my card was not supported I had to use the binary which caused a lot of problems in the long run...

Re: ungoogled-chromium (32 bit)
Not sure about chrome. but you can configure mozilla, or palemoon profiles so it will not connect anywhere anymore. Make a "user.js" and check in about:config for "http" and "https" and then replace in "user.js" the ones you don't want. Alternatively just use ...

elcore's slackpkg template (14.2)
I'm working on slackpkg templates (slackware dvd rips) for my construction machine. Eventually, I'm looking to port all this stuff I built into next stable slackware-14/15 and keep functionality. My binaries specifically target K8 x86/x86_64 and nothing else. I share this template with no guarantee ...

Re: Salix 14.2, can't boot to multiuser [not solved, gave up
One reason I could think of is that something went wrong with patching procedure. Note if you can repro this by patching expat-2.2.2-x86_64-1_slack14.2 and not dbus-1.10.8-x86_64-2_slack14.2, then there was probably a network error before the upgrade was complete. If you patch both of these packages...

Re: links browser flawed
This is really an upstream problem. While a packager can apply small patches, it is really up to the application developers to fix things like this Not sure you've noticed, but the quoted thing is from changelog 2.13 and 2.14 so evidently the devs are fixing things. And it's been packaged in -curre...

Re: links browser flawed
There's not just one flaw, there's plenty. At least 4 different ones in changelog. But the problem with finding assigned number is the program name, if you input that into crawler bot it just outputs everything which "links" .. So there's millions CVE pages which have "links" and...

links browser flawed
Apparently links-2.12 browser is shipped by slackware-14.2 and has CVE which has only been fixed in slackware-current.
Recommend: Upgrade to links-2.14 (compiles fine here, I've checked)
