Re: slapt-get

Maybe, but --update does not upgrade any packages, it just downloads repository information, so it doesn't make sense to display package upgrade information. I realize that, but using apt-get/aptitude update under Debian, you don't have to go through with the upgrade option if there are no updates ...

Re: HowTo: Have the Most Up-to-Date Mozilla Firefox Browser

I'll look it up. I've never heard of an ESR version of Firefox. In any case, this doesn't appear to be as easy to do as my experience under CrunchBang. So, I'll take the easy way out on this and use the version from the Salix repos. I've spent way too much time trying to figure out how to get Flash ...

Re: Nice Wallpapers for Your Desktop

I don't think I've been following DB that long. I used to be a SecondNatureCD and Deviant Art fan, but I exclusively use DB wallpapers now, especially with all of the different resolutions offered.

Re: slapt-get

That's not what --update does. You're thinking about --upgrade. I was comparing to apt-get/aptitude under Debian. There is no --autoclean option. And it doesn't make sense to have one. If you do a slapt-get --help at the command line, --autoclean is referenced as an option. So is it safe to say tha...

Re: HowTo: Have the Most Up-to-Date Mozilla Firefox Browser

The way you're doing it, you'll have to manually install any plugins like flash separately too. And keep updating them manually... Flash is installed manually under Debian and updated that way as well, or at least that's the way I've learned it; reference the thread on the CrunchBang forums above. ...

[SOLVED] LightDM

Has anyone successfully installed and used LightDM in place of GDM under Salix 14.1 64-bit? If so, mind sharing how you did it?

slapt-get

01) When a user runs slapt-get --update , the results should indicate the number of new packages to be updated; reference functionality of agt-get update or aptitude update . 02) When a user runs slapt-get --autoclean , a message should be displayed indicating how much disk space was freed; referenc...

Re: New Salix User

I'm disappointed to hear that. Hmmm...there's still one of the BSD spins I could try, but I've read that BSD does not use EXT file systems, so I'd have to possibly look at other methods of setting up shared data partitions. If nothing else, I can always use Salix as my second Linux distro in a dual-...
