I had to do something like that back in Salix 13.x and 14.x (except I use LyX myself instead of TeXstudio and TeXworks). Of course I didn't keep notes and forgot everything. Thank you for this detailed guide!

It is in Italian, but auto translate works surprisingly well. I actually didn't know SUSE was initially based on Slackware.
