live USB without occupying all the space

Is it possible (how) to create a Salix live USB, with salixlive64-xfce-14.1 that does not occupy all the space on the USB stick?
I want to be able to use the USB stick for other things too, beside Salix live.

Thunar won't remember password for Windows share

Whenever I try to acces a shared location on a Windows machine with Thunar, I get asked for a password. When I check 'remember forever' Thunar doesn't seem to remember it at all.
How can I fix this?
