Re: how does dependency checking work?

The slackbuilds at http://slackbuilds.org are also fully compatible with Salix, in case you need anything that is not in the Salix repos.

Ok thanks Gapan. That is what I figured when I saw the "smp" in the description of the 64bit kernel after I looked at it more closely.
I edited my post to reflect that once I saw it.

Re: Nvidia drivers 256.44 and Salix 13.1.1 32 bits

If you installed the kernel-huge package, it is because you made an effort to. You really need to go out of your way to do that during installation, so if you were looking for ways to break your system without understanding what you're doing, I'm guessing that you found one. Yes, install the kernel...

Re: New versions

I ran the slackbuild for transmission found in /usr/src/transmission with the latest version of transmission and it worked fine. Thanks for the info! I am now running transmission 2.03. By the way, the latest (and hopefully greatest) version of transmission is now 2.03. Transmission is updated so fr...

Re: New versions

OK thanks JRD. I will give that a try.

Is there a list of these extra third party Salix repositories somewhere?

Re: New versions

See post #1. OK, thanks Gapan. I just wanted to know if this also applied to those packages that are not standard on Slackware, but are standard on Salix. If you are aiming to provide an easy to use system with the same rock solid stability that Slackware is famous for, then I suppose this is a goo...

Re: New versions

1. Pidgin is a package provided by slackware. So, if an update is needed, they will do it there. What about a package like Transmission? Transmission is not part of Slackware. It is a standard part of Salix though. (That is, it is standard with a full install anyway.) There is a slackbuild for Tran...

First, run lsmod and make sure the driver for your wireless card is loaded.
Have you tried using wicd to setup the wireless networking?
Wicd is included in a stock (full) install of Salix. It is very easy to use.

Re: google chrome on salix 13.1

In the future, if there is not a Salix specific package for the app you seek, try the slackbuilds at slackbuilds.org. There is a slackbuild script for google chrome for Slackware 13.1 at slackbuilds, org : http://slackbuilds.org/repository/13.1/network/google-chrome/ These slackbuild scripts will wor...

Re: Salix 13.1 is here!

Hello all! I am new to Sailix, but not new to linux. My main distro has been Slackware for some time. I have used Zenwalk also since version 4.0. I heard about Salix on the LQ forums, so I decided to give it a try now that 13.1 is out. Everything looks great so far. I installed 64bit Salix on my des...
