Hi all, and thanks for the answers.
Back on this forum after 2 weeks busy elsewhere !
I still suffer this "kernel panic":
I created a bootable USB stick, using "unetbootin", with salix 15.0
iso file upon it - easy - after having checked and re-checked the iso
file (2 downloads, and an "diff ...

Re: Cannot boot Salix 15.0 just installed: kernel panic
Hi galmei, hi Bird: thank you both for your answers.
To galmei:
I checked the md5sum after download; then burned the DVD with brasero (which makes a check of the
burned data: no alarm). In any case, I'll repeat the download and burn a new DVD. If unsuccessful I
shall investigate using a USB stick ...

Hi everybody,
I am an old user of Salix (started more than 10 years ago with

I use daily (and happily) Salix 14.1 on several machines, three
of them being old 32 bits computers on which Salix 14.1 has
been running fantastically well for years. I would like to migrate

Re: installing kicad with sourcery: doesn't work
Thank you Ibka and DidierSpaier
I tried "slapt-get -i kicad" ... and it was installed in a handful of seconds !
I do not understand what I did; usually the command I used was:
slapt-get --install <package_name>
I did not know the option -i and I still don't understand its use !
But it worked ...

Re: installing kicad with sourcery: doesn't work
Sorry Ibka, I made a wrong answer: I was looking at my good old Salix 14.1.
In Salix 14.2, gslapt offers wxGTK, version 3.0.2, which is indeed installed,
and wxGTK2, version 2.8.12, which is NOT.
Should I try to install wxGTK2 ? I have not the slightest idea about all
these mysterious names and ...

Re: installing kicad with sourcery: doesn't work
Thank you Ibka for your answer.
I just checked with gslapt: wxGTK is indeed installed, version 2.8.12.1,
the only one which is offered by gslapt (apart from wxGTK3 which, I
suppose, is different).
Has this version number any relation with the one mentionned in the
error message ?
Best regards ...

installing kicad with sourcery: doesn't work
Hi everibody
I have been a happy user of salix since version 13.37, and am currently using version 14.1.
On my old hardware, it is super fast and fluid (indeed, the fastest distro I experienced, and I
tested many of them). Thanks and congratulations to all the people who contributed !

Hi everybody
I use a Logitech webcam with internal microphone. Works perfectly

audio from the webcam), available in the repos of Salix 13.37.
Under Salix 14, no "guvcview" in the repos (I would like to upgrade

Akuna
Merci pour ta réponse.
J'attendrai donc la prochaine version ! La creation d'une brave icône pour s'éviter de taper une commande en console est en effet la solution la plus simple, en attendant.
