Re: What if Slackware dies?

I also don't want Devuan to be the base of anything else. CROWZ, Gnuinos and three others are more than enough. Even without "systemd" I don't recommend it to anyone. If only "Chimaera" worked well enough because the ISO's are still widely available while those for Debian "B...

Unable to get three packages upgraded

I'm sorry for posting only for reporting a problem that I have upgrading Slackel. I have looked in Slackel forum. Probably this is in process of being resolved. Slackel is based on slackware current. I tried to build freebasic on slackel but build failed. So as gapan said try freebasic from salix extra repo.
I guess I could do this now. Thank you for the advice.

Freebasic v1.09 fails build through Sourcery

It looks like the Slackbuild needs to be updated. :/ I'm on Slackel v7.6 Openbox, with Linux kernel v6.1.41. I have not found a fix specific to Slackware v15. Looked in "linuxquestions-dot-org", there's a thread for a fix but it's from 2016. The Freebasic forums are too Windows and Ubuntu ...

Slackel is for my own personal use and also is available for free for anyone find it useful. Hi djemos. Thank you for your assistance, as many times in the past. But I never wanted you to w...

Slackel update malaise

I was forced to reinstall Slackel for the fifth time because I can never be an "intermediate" Linux user, I'm trying to be but I suck. I had to take down the previous one because there was a serious conflict between PCManFM and Engrampa on an archive I tried to extract from. It wasn't ZIP ...

Re: Thunar fails

Did you do this to "kill" it? thunar --quit Because using "killall" or forcibly ending a program through the Task Manager is not recommended. Otherwise it might have to do with disk space almost full or caches needing to be cleaned. You didn't give more information about your sys...

Re: Kernel panic when booting from USB drive

I used the installer built into the Live ISO to install onto a USB thumbdrive. The thumbdrive never booted correctly. The initrd doesn't detect any USB storage devices during bootup. Are you saying I need to use a different method to install onto a USB thumbdrive? I know there's a tool to copy the ...

GSlapt and Sorcery conflict about Wine

On Slackel v7.6 OpenBox 64-bit I installed Wine v8.0 through Sorcery, took 1-1/2 hours to compile. GSlapt update system detected this and decided to install an ancient version of Wine v1.5.15 from Slackel repositories. :!: Either there should be a way to block this ancient version from further "...
