Thanks. I did initially install postgresql and unixODBC because they're requirements for soci.

I would like to install rstudio which is an IDE for the R programming language. From experience I know that printers can be tricky in Linux. Brother is often recommended because they supply Linux drivers, and my last printer was a Brother, but all their drivers are 32 bit so I'll have to install multilib which is not advised. I like Salix so much I've now installed it on my main desktop. It runs just as fast as my previous Q4OS debian stable system with Trinity DE, if not faster. I opted for a full install instead. It runs fast enough so I won't bother with icewm for now; I may tinker a bit when I've got used to the Slackware/Salix way of doing things.
