Ah, okay, thanks. That info helped me figure out where the directory came from -- virtualbox guest additions.
Originally where I was going with that /etc directory is perhaps supporting the generic kernel in Salix 15.0. The huge kernel is going away in the next Slackware release. I'll guess that ...

/etc/kernel/postinst.d
Hi,
Salix 15.0 64-bit.
I'm looking for information about /etc/kernel/postinst.d. How is this directory used? What triggers looking in this directory for post install scripts?
I checked the online documentation (very nice site), but did not find anything relevant.
Thanks.

Re: Oddball K3B Issue
Does this help?
Thanks for replying. Doesn't help :), but I neglected to mention in my original post I had already checked that.

Oddball K3B Issue
I'm looking at a really weird needle in the haystack glitch.
Last year I installed Salix and KDE for a family member. Other than this glitch all is working fine and the user is content. The Salix system is fully updated.
* Login using KDE/X11.
* Launch K3B.
* In the K3B center folder/file pane ...

Re: Installing local packages
I'll look into creating an online repo and adding to /etc/slapt-get. The idea of file manager context menus sounds tempting.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: Installing local packages
I was hoping for a GUI solution. I installed Salix for a long-distance person, all working fine, but a pointy-clicky person. The person can use the terminal but I prefer to avoid that. I installed some of my own shell scripts and I want to update those remotely for the person. I thought a local ...

Re: ls options
Try the following in a terminal window:
export LS_OPTIONS=" -F -b -T 0 -l -a -h --group-directories-first --color=auto"
Then try the ls command.
If that provides a more helpful ls command then welcome to the rabbit hole of customizing the command.

Installing local packages
Does slapt-get/gslapt support installing/updating a single local package that is not part of an upstream repo? Or do the parent Slackware tools installpkg/upgradepkg need to be used?
Thanks.
Thanks.

LightDM config options
Does LightDM support similar functions to the RebootCommand and HaltCommand options provided in sddm (and the predecessor KDM)?
I scoured the web but found nothing or my search terms are not in sync with what I seek.
Thanks.

Re: Panel update notifier icon
Thanks for replying.
A quick test here finds that installing the adwaita icon theme seems to resolve various icon display issues. In this quick test no editing of index.theme files was required. I did need to reboot.
I'll consider the thread as resolved. Thanks!
