We will see what this fork will bring up. Forks are generally great to keep development still ongoing, but sometimes they just die as quickly they were born.
For instance, see what happened to OpenSolaris/Illuminos, a little change of Oracle's strategy ...

Re: Salix 13.1 & Stinkpad T40: slow Loading Linux....

Personally, I'd like to have a graphic image, or ASCII art or whatever instead of the "Loading Linux..." and this splash screen will only hide the "Loading Linux..." , I just like to see the colorful writings after "Loading Linux..." . :P

Re: Salix 13.1 & Stinkpad T40: slow Loading Linux....

I usually kill the dots by adding a "compact" command, as I know it can be placed anywhere; in my lilo.conf it's after the "boot = /dev/sdx" line
http://www.salixos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=680&hilit=lilo+compact

Seem like the solution is:
# lilo -v -c -C /etc/lilo.conf ?

But what comes to the server with 2GHz Celeron CPU, it's not _old_.
You can easily run it as a fileserver, webserver, irc-server, you name it.

It really doesnt ...
