Greetings Gapan,
Thank you. The reasons you provided do explain this gap in resource requirements.
An I do agree on filling memory and releasing pieces when needed, which leads us to run completely in memory approach with today's memory capacity on new computers...

Quick question on resource requirements
I understand no formal benchmarking was done to establish exact resource requirements and performance of Salix LiveCD. My testing to have some rough idea to narrow requirements down was using Thinkpad 23 with 256M and 512M ram and comparing to vector and Zenwalk 5.2 (IMHO the sast one really good on...

Re: LiveClone issue I am trying to figure out
Akuna, I apologize but I ran out of time and did not have a chance to test the fix you provided. If I understand correctly from your latest post, the *.conf files from /etc/wicd will be removed in the next version, to fix this bug. Please correct me if I misunderstood. As I planned to test the fix y...

Re: LiveClone issue I am trying to figure out
You can try removing all configuration files from /var/lib/wicd/configurations and/or the *.conf files in /etc/wicd and remaster the iso without them. Greetings Gapan, Finally I got some time to test the above workaround and I am glad to report that it appears to work. I deleted all *conf files fro...

Re: LiveClone issue I am trying to figure out
Hi Akuna,
Thanks very much for such quick turnaround. I will try to test it late tonight when I get home from work. In the interim I was trying the workaround I got from Gapan, I left running for the night so I will test it as well when I come home late tonight.
I greatly appreciate your help.

I am evaluating OS systems, architecture and software. I am not evaluating religious beliefs of their founders.

Re: Salix, Salix, Salix.
To close my diverging away from the original topic: I did not say Windows is better architected vs. Linux. What I said was quite contrary - Linux took a bad example from Windows and started following Windows by dispersing pieces of apps in various places, rather than keeping them together in one pla...

Re: Salix, Salix, Salix.
I forgot to mention Igelle, a new architecture trend to use self-contained modules of apps.
Similar to TinyCore on modularity, but fixing the flaw Linux, which followed MS Windows to no longer keep apps in one place but sprinkle their pieces all over the place...

Re: Salix, Salix, Salix.
So..... Then it hit her that the reason I've been playing more is because I'm not spending all night on forums trying to solve Linux problems. Excellent! This also explains why this forum is relatively not very active - No problems! Well, joke aside... Although I am a new Salix user and my knowledg...

Re: Skype: "free" software for a bit of your privacy
Excellent! I am glad there is someone who understands what is going on... By washing brains and feeding media content consisting of only trivialities and garbage you institute the most effective control of mind and distract people from thinking about issues that are important. There is no such thing...
