Re: Salix Xfce 15.0 is released!

8-) Works perfectly on my crappy chromebook after making an initrd for the onboard eMMC storage. The installer did show the same swap partition 4 times but I just unchecked the duplicates.

Re: Salix Xfce 14.0

The walk-around to it is to edit syslinux.cfg on the usb boot image, and set "timeout=12000" to something like "timeout=30" (3seconds) Well, having no keyboard input whatsoever you wouldn't have to wait as long for the bootup to fail. Slack's initrd loads and then just hangs at ...

Re: Salix Xfce 14.0

Love my Salix Basic installs! Even though I select NetworkManager to handle my network at install the daemon script is not turned on in /etc/rc.d, the dep libnl3 is not even installed (nor modemmanager/3g provider info), and for the nm-applet to work you have to manually install something like mate-...

Re: Salix MATE 13.37

After my first OCD like reaction to some missing MATE packages this release is really quite nice. The only issue was after adding the Equinox GTK engine as it's slightly buggy with the panels, might need a quick fix to fully work in the new environment - not that it matters as I've gone MATE+dwm :D

Doesn't that sound like udisks is not installed as Thunar still uses HAL in 13.37?

Re: Gnome 3

Did run GNOME SlackBuild 3.0 when it came out but a simple seamonkeylibs update broke it for me  Haven't tried 3.2 yet.

Re: Salix KDE - kdesu only works once

Would not having the KDE password manager enabled or installed and then checking the 'save password' option in kdesu break it?

Re: hard drive light

That's really weird - you sure you don't have the PWR/HDD leds swapped? ;)
I have a computer that doesn't mark the polarity on the motherboard LED pins so the lights were either always on or didn't work at all. A loose harddrive cable could also be the culprit.

Re: Problems with a laptop and an external monitor.

What type of monitor is it, older CRT or newer LCD? Have you tried booting with nomodeset? There's no xorg.conf anymore, custom settings go into the etc/X11/xorg.conf.d folder.
