Re: Network (PXE) boot

Why do you want to reinvent the wheel? You should use the tools that are just there. Though, it is possible to improve them.
I've edited my post about FAI with a quote of the main features. FAI seems to provide support for PXE and other network protocols out-of-the-box.

Re: Network (PXE) boot

Probably, FAI is a great option for installation and/or live media. FAI-CD: Installation from CD, DVD or USB stick FAI-CD is the easy way to start with FAI. Perform a FAI installation from CD-ROM without setting up an install server. FAI-CD puts all data needed for a fully automatic installation on ...

Re: AVAHI

I am still trying to get your question right. So, you would like to have avahi only in cli-mode?
If you disable both qt and gtk, it will not be possible to use the desktop browser and in all desktop applications the provided avahi support.
Have you tried the configure switches?

Code: Select all

./configure --help

+1
Bleeding edge is for people that know what they are doing. It is no good first impression for a new "normal" user if it can see immediately a lot of bugs.

Psi+ / Psi 0.15 beta

Psi+ is the development branch of Psi (the preferred jabber client of your choice). It holds a lot of patches that would be suggested to be included in official Psi. Check out the nice screen shots  http://psi-plus.com/wiki/doku.php/en:patches General build instruction of Psi+ on Linux Introd...

Re: ZenWalk 7

Salix is meant to be stable Yes, that is what I read that ZenWalk is trending to Bleeding edge and Salix to Stable.. Which is why I chose Salix for my Slackware Distro Install..... 8-) Stability is good as a base to try to go new ways. Therefore, bleeding edge is needed to improve things and detect...

Re: AVAHI

I can not get your problem. Avahi worked fine for me, at least in Salix 13.0.

Re: Xfce 4.8 released!

Nice articles about Xfce ( & co. ) Xfce 4.8.1 is here! Afaik. only libxfce4util is improved when compared to official 4.8.0 release. Where? Unfortunately, no official release note (I can not find any, sorry). But it is in git and several other distributions have a libxfce4util package with vers...
