Re: Libreoffice 4 problems

I've done a bit of checking - the package itself is fine. Seems to be a problem with the menu entries, though I've not yet worked out what is wrong with the /usr/share/applications/ desktop files. Hopefully I'll eventually sort it out....

Libreoffice 4 problems

Shouldn't do this when I'm half asleep, I guess.... This morning, I let an upgrade go through without looking at it very carefully. Amongst other things, it has updated Libreoffice to 4.0.0.3. However, there seems to be a bit of a problem there. Looking at the applications menu, I've got two dead en...

avahi daemon under 14.0 XFCE

I'm running Salix64 Xfce, fully updated. I've just installed avahi, followed the instructions in the Slackware readme and attempted to start both the avahai daemon and the avahi dns daemon. Neither is returning any sort of error, but neither shows up in the process list, and any attempt to start the...

Re: udisk problem

A quick follow up, in case its useful to anyone else. While I still want to know how udisk/polkit sets mount options, I have found a way round the original problem, which may be useful for anyone wanting to prepare a flash drive for use with the live version of Salix. I tried adding an entry to /etc...

Re: udisk problem

I have no idea how to change those settings with udisks. I've made a few attempts to work out how its done, so far, no information at all.... Alternatives for you might be: 1. Run the script directly with: sh /path/to/script (might not work if the scripts calls other scripts directly. Maybe y...

udisk problem

This problem applies to 14rc2. Apart from the wonderful idea of mounting removable media in /run/media/<username>/<media-name>, udisk works with polkit and sets things like execute permissions without bothering to ask. Great.... Problem I've got is that I need to be able to execute a bash script on ...

Re: Salix Xfce 14.0RC1

Installed the 64-bit version to my Lenovo T400. Everything seems pretty good so far, though I had to do a bit of building - can't do without Conky and Wbar.... So far (only been installed for 30 minutes or so) the only problem I've hit is that Cups doesn't autodetect my printer. To be honest, I can'...

Re: avahidaemon failes to load

Anyone? I've now confirmed that the same error occurs on three different Salix 13.37 installs. I've got a 32-bit and a 64-bit install on my Lenovo T61. Under the 64-bit version, I've been seeing the same error message for a while - didn't know what was producing it. On checking, I find something mus...

avahidaemon failes to load

I installed avahai from the repo (needed for the latest version of CUPS, which is running on my Arch server). This is to Salix64 XFCE 13.37 However, any attempt to load the daemon gives me these results: root[rc.d]# ./rc.avahidaemon start Starting Avahi mDNS/DNS-SD Daemon: /usr/sbin/avahi-daemon -D ...

Re: root

So I've decided to move to Salix from PCL. I plan to leave the a /home partition as was - with an existing user account prior to Salix install. When I install Salix, I create a user account then once up and running, I want to move the content of the original user account to the new account and give...
