Re: Opera for 14.1

Anyone following my tweets over the last couple of days would probably have guessed this already but in case you missed it, we released a development version of our Blink-based Opera for Linux . It is very early days so this initial version is provided as a 64-Bit Deb and the UI only looks (semi) co...

We have not been qt4 based in about 4 years. Opera Presto stopped depending on Qt a long time ago. Don't believe me. Remove it and Opera Presto will run just fine.

The new version is Gtk/Aura based.

Re: Opera for 14.1

I would advise against using opera as a browser at this point. It seems that they have abandoned development for linux completely, as they haven't released a new version for ages. In the mean time they are releasing new versions for all other platforms all the time... We haven't abandoned Linux. I ...

Re: [SOLVED] Chromium or Chrome?

Once in a while I just do fakeroot ./latest-chrome from within the directory where the script has been saved (don't forget to make it executable!), and if a new release is available it gets downloaded and repacked in /tmp/ ready to use :D No need to use fakeroot on my script. The script will make a...

Yep, I have replaced my locally compiled kernel with Pat's new packages and still no issues.

Re: Opera 12.15 out today

In the future ;) Seriously though I can't give you a date. Firstly I am still on parental leave and hence don't know all the finer details of everything happening in the office right now and secondly there is no fixed date other than when the guys think it is ready for public consumption. With Opera...

Re: CVE 2013-1763 - Linux Kernel local root exploit

Pat has updated the 14.0 3.2.45 packages. Reports are that they work for those having issues before. I must admit I have not tried yet. The kernel from current is working nicely for me so I will probably stick with it.

Re: CVE 2013-1763 - Linux Kernel local root exploit

Thanks gapan. I was not aware of that option. Though in my case the problem was not a black screen on boot but rather X freezing shortly after it started.

Re: CVE 2013-1763 - Linux Kernel local root exploit

As you have probably all realised by now Pat did indeed provide updated kernels ( this is the announcement ): Slackware 13.37 - 2.6.37.6-3 , Slackware64 13.37 - 2.6.37.6-3 , Slackware 14.0 - 3.2.45 and Slackware64-14.0 - 3.2.45 . Be aware however that some people with certain Intel hardware have had...
