Re: [FIXED] Invalid keyboard layout related to locale
Hem... It turns out all I needed was to use fr_CH-latin1 instead, which provides a more complete keymap. I'm still not accustomed to Swiss keyboards and thought that latin1 would provide an older version
Sorry for the noise.

Re: [FIXED] Invalid keyboard layout related to locale
There is no such thing as non-unicode character (appart if you speak of some type of hieroglyphs that has been chosen to not be included in unicode).
It was late in the evening, forget that

Re: Invalid keyboard layout related to locale
Good news, the keyboard layout is the good one this time :) I can add [FIXED] to the title of this topic.
Same thing happens for me with greek accented letters. Can view them properly, but not type them. I think it has to do with the font we're using. But apart from the terminus font we're using ...

Re: Invalid keyboard layout related to locale
It almost works ;) With this version my keyboard layout is changed on the fly after running keyboardsetup (I chose fr_CH), and sticks after a reboot, but it's the Swiss German layout, not the Swiss French one.

Re: Is SLKBUILD usage compulsory?
Hi,
So it means that we can use SlackBuilds for packages submitted for inclusion in Salix? Do SlackBuilds need to be named build-<package_name>.sh ? I tested slkbuild and that makes it dead easy to create build scripts, but I'd like to be able to maintain packages on slackbuilds.org as well.

Re: Invalid keyboard layout related to locale
At the beginning of installation, I selected fr_CH as a keymap (qwertz/fr_CH.map). At the end of installation I selected fr_CH.UTF-8 as a locale.
fr_CH is a valid console keymap, but not a valid X.org keyboard layout (the correct one is layout "ch" with variant "fr"). However it seems the system ...

Installer, user configuration and first boot
Hi,
There is a potential minor issue in Salix's installation process. When installing, you are not required to create a standard user and you can skip this step. The problem is that after installation Salix boots automatically in graphic mode and you land on GDM, where you can't log in if you don't ...

[FIXED] Invalid keyboard layout related to locale
Hi,
When installing Salix I chose to use the fr_CH locale. I didn't notice any problem until I rebooted, started an X session and tried to type some text: the keyboard layout wasn't a swiss french one but the default one (en_US).
Indeed, if I launch XFCE keyboard configuration tool, I see that the ...

Info on Salix's philosophy
Hi,
I've heard about Salix OS on Distrowatch and now I'm running it in VirtualBox. Seems like exactly the distro I was looking for, so I have some questions on the project's goals (right now documentation is still sparse ;) ).
I was turned off Slackware by it being sometimes "too" lazy and being ...
