Re: Slackware 15

I think that is why even many distros intended for use by children - even very little children - base their interface on a modified Xfce desktop. And I think it follows the KISS principle (Slackware philosophy) more closely than the others too.

Re: Slackware 15

XFCE is the sanest desktop environment available currently. Runs equally good on older hardware. And no matter what people think or say, not everybody in the world uses computers with eight core CPU, 32 GB of RAM, RTX 3090 and 4K display. With a bit of a work, XFCE can be made to look as good as an...

Re: Fix screen tearing in Xfce (Intel)

I find that using Compton instead fixes my issue with screen tearing. I think this old issue will be all behind us in Slackware 15.

Re: Here to say hi

That's why I like it so much! It's pretty much just the way I like it "straight from the box." I spent only a few minutes changing up the things I wish, like Wallpapers and a couple of software substitutions (Brave in place of Firefox, that sort of thing). Welcome! And enjoy the legendary ...

Salix Swag

I would love to have a SalixOS teeshirt or sweatshirt. Maybe a case badge or two and a couple of Salix coffee cups to help launch conversation and promote Salix (and maybe support the project as well in doing so)! Is there some outlet for "Salix swag" to shop for?

Re: What is a good distro to recommend for beginners?

For those who hate systemd but may have resigned themselves to it for a "beginner's distro," Linux Lite has added a new tool to "Lite Tweaks" that purges systemd logs. A step in the right direction for an Ubuntu-based distro.

Re: What is a good distro to recommend for beginners?

I used to put Linux Lite on computers for beginners, on older computers I restored from old Windows® machines. It was very fast and especially designed for newbies. One of the things I liked best about LL was that they named applications for their functions in the Whisker menu. A newbie wouldn't kno...
