Re: Newbie questions and a few guidelines?
Breaking the windows mindset/control is very hard for some people...Perhaps, you should keep windows and install a GNU/Linux distro on another partition (dual boot) or run GNU/Linux in virtualbox until you become more familiar with it... This is why I do not agree with people trying to recruit windo...

Re: Newbie questions and a few guidelines?
Excuse me for a second while I ROFLMAO about Roky comparing Debian to an All Anglo Neighborhood...LOL Seriously though.... Debian has its strengths for some and for others those same strengths are its weaknesses. I was a long long time user of Debian, as well as many other distros...The main problem...

[quote="slientwind" 1. Can I safely install Firefox beside Midori in Salix Xfce? Wouldn't they conflict somehow? How would I do that from Gslapt? I mean how would I know which packages are needed from all those listed? You can install as many browsers as you wish. Midori is nice, but still...

Re: If systemd is so bad...
Agreed with much in Bobo's post, however, not all. Systemd is an intrusive software suite that has more in common with a logging type malware than a new init system. It is not difficult to run a non-systemd system however. Requires patching or recompiling some programs, cups as an example, however, ...

Re: Donations to Slackware?
Hi Gapan,
I noticed their "store" the other day, nice items. Perhaps a Salix store in the future?
What I was mainly asking though is: Does Salix give a percentage of their donations to Slackware to help support them as well?

Donations to Slackware?
Hello,
I was reviewing the old thread from 2013 regarding donations, glad you decided to accept them, and it had me wondering...
Does any percentage of the donations go to Slackware, or do they not accept donations?
Regards

Re: Another systemd-refugee found a new home here.
Hello Everyone, I have a similar story as "Papasot", with regards to the recent widespread adoption of systemd, causing me to leave Debian. I was a long time user of Windows from the early 90's (DOS before that), been using GNU/Linux for a long time as well. I began my journey with Debian ...
