Re: Jabber room
Would IRC make people join? If it will, can you create a room B.? I haven't really ever used IRC, I have only logged in a couple of times in the Zenwalk room and that's it...
And yes, I think guth is in.

Re: Standard installation CD or Live CD?
Maybe a combined Live CD/Installation CD and an 'alternate' installation CD like Ubuntu? A network install CD would be nice too (FTP, and only wired, nothing fancy like wireless, that's nonsense). You mean a CD that would have 2 modes of operation? That may not be that easy to do. The "install...

Re: Standard installation CD or Live CD?
But what about X server problems at live CD bootup? This would make it very hard to install the system. Yes, but if X doesn't autoconfigure right, the same users are going to have problems as soon as everything is installed. And I think all problems with X not loading with Zenwalk live CDs were due...

Re: Main idea ?
To me that sounds like a medadistribution? :) Yes, probably. Is that a bad thing? I suppose most of you people prefer zendo/zpm over (x)netpkg? I do. But I'm thinking about slapt-get/gslapt, because it supports multiple repos. That way we won't need to pull slackware packages and put them in our re...

Re: Main idea ?
This can be done anyway!thenktor wrote:But I really would want to replace some Slackware packages with own packages, so a plug-in only system is not enough in my opinion.

Jabber room
We have a jabber room and everyone is invited to join, wood@chat.zenwalk-fr.org (laugh at the name freely, guth decided on it and he was drunk when he did it. I happen to like it just fine BTW  ) Maybe we can discuss things more directly there, but don't be surprised if you log in and noone els...

Standard installation CD or Live CD?
What the title says... If we have Pierrick with us, his expertise on live CDs would be extremely valuable. If we could work closely with him to make liveinstall support any type of partitions/installation I think we wouldn't need an installation CD. Or even then, maybe make a "core" instal...
Re: x86_64
64 bit is interesting. But we need support for older PCs, so 32 bit is a must have I think. And I think most people still use 32 bit anyway. Maybe think seriously about a 64 bit version once we sort everything (well, or almost everything) out in 32 bit? We could make arrangements in our buildscripts...

Re: Main idea ?
And... provide a full featured slackware installation (with probably a gtk+2 environment) that could fit in a single CD (the smaller, the better). Sounds a lot like minislack, doesn't it?
