Re: Upgrade 13.37 to 14.2

As already pointed out by gapan, a fresh install is much easier (and also safer and faster, in my humble opinion). If you go that way, do not forget to make backups of all files you'd be sorry to loose (and remember that possibly some are not under /home; for instance mysql databases usually are und...

Re: Upgrade 13.37 to 14.2

ls /var/log/packages shows all installed packages. Including the ones from SBo/manually etc. This implies that you should always (make if not available then) install a package for your software. If instead you compile and install the software manually with "make install" it will not be re...

Re: Salix Xfce 14.2beta1

I suggest that you don't worry and quietly wait for the official release of Salix Xfce 14.2 within one month or so. I am pretty sure that you will be able to add a boot entry for Salix in the Grub menu of your other distribution, probably just editing the file grub.conf. We will be there to help, al...

Re: Salix Xfce 14.2beta1

A live-cd version that allows to use grub will be achieved? Well, I don't know but to boot the CD itself it doesn't matter much which bootloader will be used, as long as it works. But maybe you consider installing from a running live CD, and you ask because you currently use grub to boot an already...

Re: Lumina-Desktop SlackBuild

Of course. To clarify, I didn't mean my a post as a request, just an information.

Incidentally, the SBo repos for 14.2 are ready (I was about to write "the bar is open"). So, slapt-src works for 14.2.

Cheers,

Re: Salix Xfce 14.2beta1

I tried Salix64-142beta1 in a VirtualBox VM in EFI mode. No issue during installation. I chose to install both lilo and elilo (without a making a boot entry for Salix in the EFI firmware). Salix didn't start at first in UEFI mode. However using the UEFI shell of the VM I could start it. Next, I coul...
