Re: Salix 15.0 screenshots
350-370 Mb on idle sounds about right, but it sure can go up to 450 ore even more, with "goodies" starting by default. IceWM with a "luxury" setup that looks very much like XFCE drops this to 200-250 Mb, depending on how fancy I go. One of my lightest setups (Openbox without a ta...

Re: Salix 15.0 screenshots
It would be nice if you included a tool like Btop, Htop, or even XFCE's Task Manager to show the memory and RAM usage in the screenshots. But I guess Neofetch will do as well. 565 Mb of RAM used just for a terminal open though? That's too much for XFCE. You must be running stuff in the background.

Re: Problems while running 15.0 in an old pc
With 4Gb of RAM, it should be flying rather than running Salix 15, without stressing the machine that much to raise temperature. I am not sure what's going on here. But I'm sure the additional burden Salix 15 has compared to 14.2 is too small to justify such a temperature raising.

Re: problem installing "binary plugin" for HP printer [solved]
I am back home now, and I can confirm I have the same printer, but I don't use foo2zjs or anything similar. This is what CUPS says about my installed printer: Driver: HP LaserJet Professional p1102, hpcups 3.20.5, requires proprietary plugin The proprietary plugin mentioned in the description was in...

Re: Problems while running 15.0 in an old pc
I see in the information about Dell 540 I found online that the specifications vary from model to model, all of them named "Dell 540", but I am assuming you have at least 2 Gb of RAM and a decent (for GNU/Linux standards) CPU and GPU. Even without knowing your old PC's specifications, I ca...

Re: slackel repositories on slackware.uk
Hard to say goodbye to those minor update issues happened from time to time with Slackel repos in SourceForge. They added some spice to Slackel - which is too boringly stable for a rolling distro.

Re: problem installing "binary plugin" for HP printer
Years ago, I bought a HP printer which I assume it is very similar to yours (Laserjet Professional P1102w if I recall correctly) and it worked without issues or compromises since Salix 13. I don't quite remember the process - and like I said I'm not at home to check - but what I do remember for sure...

Re: problem installing "binary plugin" for HP printer
Hi mimosa, I happen to have a very similar printer which I managed to get it working on Salix - after some trouble. I'm not at home for a few days so I can't check, but I doubt the driver you use is the proper one.Did you manage to make hp-plugin working? Do you have python-distro installed?

Yes it's up and repositories are updated. Thank you George (also for correcting the mimetype thing)!
That was quick.

mupdf is buggy, fix and upgrade available
mupdf is a very nice PDF viewer/toolkit. It may not have bells and whistles, but it has more functionality than atril (or even worse evince), plus it is fast and lightweight. mupdf is included in Salix repositories but it is buggy and won't work. I have sent a ticket in SourceForge, where I explain...
