The drive's firmware handles everything for you. Just use it as every other HD.

That's what we have. I guess the initial suggestion means that "a tree" should be considered as correct answer, not only "tree".

Xorg -config /root/xorg.conf.new -retro
and save it to /etc/X11/xorg.conf. Reboot or type startx or type init 4
By default it should work without a xorg.conf at all. So if there is an old one left, first try to delete this one.

If your ethernet card really is a card, then try to re-plug it. Maybe it has a bad contact. If it is onboard, then try to get another card for a few bucks, maybe it is just broken.
