Back to Salix

Post by lucky9 »

Hello Salix Community,
This is my second go around with Salix. I am not a Linux or GNU/Linux guru, more of a novice. but I chose to use Salix because I want to learn how an operating system works. Everyone says Slackware is hard to use, but I think Salix makes it a bit easier. I think I will be sticking around a lot longer this time, so Developers and Community keep up the good work.

PS I've mostly used Debian base distributions of *buntu flavors so please be patient with me.
Thanks in advance;)

Welcome back:)

There is a new, updated version of the Startup Guide you may find useful:

http://guide.salixos.org

If you prefer pdf rather than html, there is a link on the Slaix homepage.

Welcome back, lucky9. I'm a Debian-based distro veteran of sorts myself. I got my feet wet and have learned a lot using Debian-based distros. I'm currently using CrunchBang Linux and decided to check out Salix due to the possible systemd issues in the upcoming Debian Jessie release.

@mimosa: Nice looking cat. Is he/she friendly?

@mimosa: "...sleep under my neck..." That's so precious.

I'm another Debian based distro user thinking that I might return to Slack based distro(s) should systemd take on a stranglehold elsewhere, might even go full time BSD. :lol:

@fatmac,
Seems a common comment on the forums I've been on.
