Intro

Post by kruset »

Hello, my name is Tim. I'm studying for a sysadmin certification, and so slackware seemed like a good choice to learn the inner workings of a linux system. I'm very impressed with Salix as well. The aesthetics are top notch. I installed the xfce version, but I use herbstluftwm and the command line with sbopkg. I had some trouble with LILO recognizing my other partition, but it's not a big deal. I'd like to contribute to the project in any small way I can, so if there's anything I can help out with, please let me know.

Welcome! Do pop into the Jabber (or IRC) channel if you want, though it tends to be quiet.

Have you checked out Salix's package manegement, with slapt-get / Gslapt, slapt-src/Sourcery, and the command line tool spi that brings both together? This, and the Salix repositories, is perhaps the main difference from Slackware and a great convenience because of automatic dependency resolution.
